I have lived in various parts of London all my life and have only recently decided to join the exodus down to Brighton. In 1994 I passed my first massage exam and so embarked on a journey that I am still traveling. I gave up a well-paid job that was making me miserable. It hasn’t always been an easy ride but I have never regretted it for a moment, because doing something you love is the thing that really makes you happy.
The first thing I did was to work at Henlow Grange health farm as a Therapeutic Massage Therapist. While this was intensively hard work for very little money (I was doing the equivalent of 7 massages a day), it did teach me my trade and made me realise that I was actually pretty good at this. After Henlow I worked solidly, mainly working with clients' in their own homes. Slowly I built up quite a large clientele, I still have some clients from the mid to late 90's. Massage wasn’t as well received then as it is now and there was no internet, so getting work was just down to word of mouth and leg work. I discovered that I really liked working in the homes of clients, setting up in their environment where they can feel even more comfortable. I have worked in treatment rooms and still do but on the whole I prefer to be mobile, and that’s how I’ve been working for over 20 years.
The next exam I took in the late 90’s was for On-Site-Massage. This was a different discipline and took me to offices to work. In the last 10 years I have added Reflexology and Sports/Deep tissue Massage to my repertoire. Most recently I have studied Male Body Waxing with the AXIOM WAXING ACADEMY. This is a bit of a departure from the norm for me but my massage experience is standing me in good stead.
